Research Paper Idea #2- Portraying Human Minds in Film captured my attention. My interests and curiosity in mental illness and psychiatric disorders has always been captivated ever since I took mental heath in LaGuardia Community College. Learning about the symptoms, behavior patterns and how mental illness greatly affects an individual has always been an intrusiveness. Schizophrenia a broad topic in psychiatric disorder that deeply dwells in how an individuals life can change drastically over a time period. I think the movie "Beautiful Mind" will help strengthen my research paper because it tells a story about a mathematician John Nash and his lifelong struggles with his mental health. Not only has he had an mental condition from the time he was born but rather along the way, developed this condition and I think it would be highlighting if I compare and contrast the way he was before and after.

Interesting topic. Have you decided which film you are going to use? I've never taken a class on mental health but we discussed it quite a bit in my psychology course, and it is a vastly interesting topic. We watched a lot of YouTube clips on case studies that were fascinating, particularly on people with memory loss disorders. Perhaps, YouTube could be helpful to you in your research, though I don't think it would be something to use and cite directly in your paper. Anyway, good luck with your topic and I'll be interested to see it develop.

Yes I have, I was actually thinking about using schizophrenia as my main topic and maybe using the film "Beautiful Mind". It looks quite interesting and the movie reviews are pretty good.
DeleteAnd yes, YouTube will be helpful for background/general information. Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, you need to decide on ONE FILM and ONE MENTAL CONDITION / ILLNESS. That way, you can cover some of the research questions for Research Idea #2 in about 1,500 - 1750 words. Did you look over the links on the Research Ideas page? There are several good films to use. Choosing a film by 10/10 will let you narrow your focus. Hope this helps. --Prof. Dragan
